These terms cover your use of Finite. By using the site or subscribing, you agree to them. We have kept them short and readable, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.

Finite draws your life as a grid of squares — one square per week — using your date of birth and published national life expectancy figures.
The figures are an estimate, not a prediction. They come from official life tables published by national statistics offices: the ONS for the United Kingdom, INE for Portugal, the CDC and NCHS for the United States, and the WHO for global figures. Each is named and dated in the product.
Those tables describe averages across whole populations. They say nothing about any individual, including you. They do not know your health, your circumstances, or your family. Anyone already alive has, on average, outlived some of the risk included in a life expectancy at birth figure, which is why the product lets you set your own target age instead.
Finite is a way of looking at time. It is not a forecast, and nothing in it should be treated as one.
Finite is not medical, financial, legal, or insurance advice, and must not be used as a basis for decisions in any of those areas. If a number in Finite prompts a question about your health or your money, please speak to a professional who knows your situation.
You need an account only for the paid plans. The free version needs nothing.
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account.
You must be at least 16 to create an account.
Prices are in pounds sterling. Depending on where you live, VAT or sales tax may be added at checkout; our payment provider calculates and handles this.
Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. We will tell you before any price change, and you can cancel rather than accept it.
Payments are handled by Stripe, acting as merchant of record. They take your payment, handle tax, and issue your receipt. We never see or store your card details.
You can cancel at any time from your settings. Cancellation stops the next payment; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Because Finite is digital and available immediately, the statutory 14-day cancellation right for digital content does not strictly apply once you have started using it. We think that is a mean way to run a small product, so:
If you are unhappy within 14 days of your first payment, email us and we will refund it in full. No explanation needed.
After that, if something has gone wrong — a charge you did not expect, a feature that did not work — email us. We would rather sort it out than argue about it.
Yearly subscribers can generate a print-ready PDF of their grid. You may print it as many times as you like, at any size up to A1, for your own personal use, and give a printed copy to someone as a gift.
You may not sell it, sell prints made from it, or redistribute the file itself.
We supply a file. Printing it, and the quality of that print, is between you and your printer.
Please do not attempt to break into other people’s accounts, disrupt the service for others, scrape the site automatically, resell access, or copy the site’s design and code as your own product.
The concept of a life drawn in weeks is not ours and is not owned by anyone — Tim Urban’s “Your Life in Weeks” (2014) put it best. The name Finite, and this site’s copy, layout, and code, are ours.
We aim to keep Finite running and available, but we cannot promise it will never be down. Maintenance, hosting problems, and the occasional bug happen. If there is an extended outage on a paid plan, tell us and we will sort out the time you have lost.
We may add, change, or remove features. If we remove something significant that you are paying for, we will tell you in advance and, if you would rather not continue, refund the unused part of your subscription.
You can delete your account at any time from settings.
We may suspend or close an account that is being used to break these terms, or to harm other users or the service. If we do, we will tell you why, and refund anything you have paid for and not used, unless the account was being used fraudulently.
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
We are not liable for decisions you make as a result of using Finite. It draws squares based on published statistics; what you do next is yours.
If you are buying as a consumer rather than a business, you keep all your statutory rights under UK consumer law. Nothing in these terms takes those away.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your own country’s courts.
